Heartland Forest - Art

The Heartland Forest at Niagara Falls, Ontario is one of my favourite places for a walk when I'm in the area. 93 acres of protected Carolinian forest and wetlands, it is truly an environment dedicated to teaching the wonders of nature. Along the path there are information stations about the plants and animals that live here and the ecology of the forest. Special little places have been designed to draw a child's attention to particular animals or features they might encounter. Some are an open invitation to play and explore while others offer a place to sit quietly and let nature reveal itself. Many unique birdhouses are tucked among the tree branches. Several still-rooted stumps have been carved into animals - a group of bunnies, a dog named Turk, an owl. The Heartland Forest is well worth a visit. All proceeds from print sales within my Heartland Forest gallery will be donated to their ongoing efforts. You can check them out here: http://www.heartlandforest.org
