I love the lighting on this ... So dramatic and powerful! Great Eye and capture Peggy!

Peggy King replied:

Thank you Marion, Hanne and Jayne for your gracious comments... they are most appreciated. I am somewhat of a gypsy and not always able to keep up to activities it seems, so I must apologize for not replying to some earlier.

Artist's Description

The Backus Mill was completed and in operation in 1798 near Port Rowan, Ontario, Canada. It was just about the only building left standing in the area during the war of 1812-14 and remained an operating business in the Backus (Backhouse) family until 1955. It is now part of a Heritage Conservation Area and still is operational for demonstration and educational purposes. This internal combustion engine, which used hot tube ignition, was installed in 1885 as an alternative power source.

As a stay-at-home-Mom I found my creative outlet in crafts of all descriptions, and in cake decorating and the 'confectionery arts' which I also taught for more than 25 years from my home. Many of my greatest friends today were introduced to me as they sat at my dining room table decades ago in those classes. About 2008, I set aside the icing bags and picked up the paint brushes again! At the same time I began taking pictures with the intent of using them as reference for future...
