Himalayan Red Lacewing Canvas Print

In response to a challenge ( http://www.lesliesaeta.blogspot.ca/2012/12/thirty-paintings-in-thirty-days.html ) I have chosen to use a theme of butterflies from photos I have taken at the Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls, Ontario. I plan to do pen & ink sketches, then paint them with watercolour.
Today is day 2. The Red Lacewing - Cethosia biblis, a heliconiine butterfly of the nymphalidae family - is native to rain forest areas from Asia to Australia.

While art, whether it be drawing or painting or creating in clay, was my first love all through my younger years, after high school I went into a secretarial course at college. The following year I left school altogether, married and started my family. As a stay-at-home-Mom I found my creative outlet in crafts of all descriptions, and in cake decorating and the 'confectionery arts' which I also taught for more than 25 years from my home.
